Welcome to my yoga plus exercise website. Thank you for visiting.
I have held yoga plus exercise classes since August 2010 in Chiswick, London W4.
I have set out below questions and answers about my classes and look forward to seeing you in class soon.
What level of students do I teach?
Each class is aimed at beginner-intermediate level students (and is unsuitable if you're pregnant or you have an injury or you are under 16 and unsupervised).
What style of yoga plus exercise do I teach?
My class is a combination of yoga plus exercise. The yoga I perform is based on ashtanga and hatha poses, and I include my own adaptations.
I tend to go through a lot of poses in a class rather than focus on just a few. If you prefer to be guided into performing poses rather than left to your own devices then this is the class for you.
Each class is around 90% yoga and 10% limbering or warming up exercises at the start and then some basic core strengthening exercises. Core exercises are important to perform yoga poses that require strength and balance.
Each class has relaxing music in the background and ends with a relaxation phase.
What is the cost?
Cost is per class and pay as you go: £8
All classes are at least 60 minutes and often 60-75 mins.
In summer and if the weather is fine, I sometimes give free classes on the green opposite Turnham Green underground station.
Do I need to book in advance?
No, drop-in is OK, but if you are a newcomer, then I would appreciate an email or call or text in advance to say that you would like to come along.
What else do I need to know?
During each class remember to stay within your personal limit by listening to your body, and to concentrate on what you are doing and what I am asking you to do. Personal safety is paramount and all classes are at your own risk..
Please don't try to compete with your classmate or you might pull a muscle, pinch a nerve, or hurt yourself in some other way. Instead, know your limits and each week try to reach them and gradually exceed them as your ability increases and your body is able to stretch or twist or lift a little more than last time.
Yoga is a progressive discipline: you should allow time (several weeks) for your body to gradually develop flexibility and strength; expecting too much too soon is likely to result in disappointment.
Keep breathing deeply and smoothly during poses and exercise, and feel free at any time to take a personal time-out or a drink if you feel like it.
Some weeks you might feel tired so cannot do as much as usual, or are perhaps finding it difficult to perform the balancing poses. That’s OK; an off-week is bound to happen from time to time, and especially after a tough day at work or at home (or both).

When running, classes are held on Monday evenings at 8pm for an hour at St Michael & All Angels church, Chiswick W4 1TX. Please go to the Yoga class dates tab above for current class dates and times.
Please try and arrive 5 minutes before class starts so we can all start together on time.
Vihara When running I I have also held a series of classes at the Buddhist Vihara (located just 1 minute from St Michael's church: (link) ). Please go to the Yoga class dates tab above for current class dates and times.
Do I need to bring a mat?
A yoga mat is recommended, or if you do not have one, then bring a bath towel. Both venues have soft carpeted flooring, which can be slippery without a mat and if you wear socks (I recommend you do yoga without socks to get a much better grip and feel, and it's safer). I also recommend you bring a belt for poses requiring extra extension of your arm.
